For most countries, visa-free entry applies — from 30 to 60 days, depending on nationality. A stamp is placed upon arrival; no documents need to be prepared in advance.

If you plan to stay longer, there are several workable options:

  • Extension of the tourist stamp by +30 days at the immigration office;
  • Obtaining a tourist visa at consulates of neighboring countries (Laos, Vietnam, Malaysia);
  • Long-term visas (ED, Business, Retirement, Elite) — arranged in advance and suitable for those planning to winter or live in Thailand.

Important: Border officers often ask for a return ticket and hotel booking, especially if previous visits were frequent. It's best to have everything ready.

Classically, the “high season” is November–March: comfortable temperatures, minimal rain, calm seas, and ideal beaches.

But “summer–autumn” is also not considered a bad time:
